Cybher 2012 – My Thoughts

You’ll know that recently I attended the CybHer 2012 blogging conference just for girls. Held in London at an amazing venue it was heralded as the biggest and best blogging conference for women. Well, I’ve never been to a blogging conference before so I don’t have anything to compare it to. I’ve been to other types of conferences, large and small so I had a fair idea what to expect, but did it live up to the hype?

The venue was truly amazing I have to say. 8 Northumberland Avenue is directly off Trafalgar Square, and I do love London having lived there about 20 years ago. The buzz and atmosphere about the place was palpable. Gorgeous architecural features, mixed with modern lighting and the funk settings of the Cybher event made it unique and I’m glad to hear that Cybher 2013 will be held there again.

So what about the event itself. As I expected it was hard to mix with 300 women, many of whom knew each other. Even though I’m a new blogger I do feel very confident in a setting like this and I hope people understood me. I met some lovely people, some successful bloggers and loved hearing and chatting about their experiences. I gained just as much from the social time as the workshops.

And what of the workshops? Well the mix was really quite amazing. I attended techie, informative, intriguing and fun sessions run by some very knowledgeable people. The highlight has to be the In the Powder Room ladies, with their free wine and fun giveaway (which I won of course, more about that here).

My overall impression of Cybher? Well to be honest it’s taken me this long to process the day and feeling ready to write the post. It was intense, and at times, quite overwhelming. So many people, all high on the buzz and adrenaline of the day, gossiping, chatting and mingling. That can be tiring in itself. So much information to process too. It really made me question the direction of my blogging. I’ve seen other bloggers writing the same thing since they returned. It encouraged me to focus on what I love about writing and why I want to do this. Some of my reasons aren’t particularly popular with everyone and I can understand that. It made me wonder if I’ve joined the party too late, as there are just so many wonderful, successful bloggers out there, but with every lovely comment on the blog or feedback email that I recieve, I feel invigorated to keep blogging. I love my content, I love how I ALWAYS have so many ideas for new articles and posts, and that never seems to diminish, so I must be doing something right. I have a plan, a quiet plan that I’m going to stick to and see how this pans out.

Cybher 2013 has just been launched. Have I bought my ticket yet?! Hmm, I think I need a little while longer to recover my mojo and focus on my blog and not be distracted by the bigger blogging world. I haven’t ruled it out though!
